Our Story

Holts of Witham has been and independent emporium for all things local and beyond since 1953, it started as a family business to the Holts family and is still very much a family run business to this day, we may have a different surname, but the shop remains true to its roots, the same as its founder Leonard Holt.

Husband and wife team John and Sophie now own the shop, and many of their staff have remained for many years, it is more like a small family than work colleagues!

John Kent – Butcher

John Kent took the shop over from the Holts family over 10 years ago. John has over 40 years experience in the butchery trade, in this experience he has supplied to some of the finest chefs in the world, including the likes of Gordon Ramsey and the Galvin brothers.

John really is your man to go to for advice on speciality cuts of meets.

Sophie Kent –¬†Sophie’s @ Holts of Witham

Our deli Sophie’s @ Holts of Witham was created in 2013 by Sophie who has a great passion for anything foodie!! Sophie has been cooking for over 20 years inspired by her Nan’s cooking and recipes as a child. On the deli you will find inspiration from all over the world, new dishes daily and food made to order!

We pride ourselves in our lovingly prepared home made range, and these are sure winners any day of the week!
